ANGEL OF METAL : REVIEW OF ALBUM LAUNCH GIG 24TH MATCH 2007
Fury UK at Hark To Towler,
Tottington, Nr. Bury 24th Mar 07
Fury UK are a 3 piece band based in the Manchester
area. Using classic rock sounds, to heavy riffs, to excellent solos, to funky
bass and hard rock beats on drums, Fury UK certainly know how to work it!
The lads were playing at Hark To
Towler, based in Tottington, Bury – rocking pub with an 'aha me matey' feel to
it and fantastic atmosphere (www.hark2towler.co.uk), Fury UK chose it to launch
their second new album – 'Face Of Adversity'.
They opened up with 'Krueger' which is a perfect
way to start the set and the album as it's got a combo of heavy changes, mind
blowing guitar solo with excellent vocals from Chris, way cool bass "bongg"ness
from Dawson (who has brill hair I may add ;) and completing the mighty trio with
his
vibrant drumming style – Adz (who smiles throughout and great to see someone
clearly enjoying themselves).
The guys played their full album from start to
finish. Following their beastie beginning, the guys lead onto 'Natural
Disaster', which I think is my second favourite track as I like the instrumental
side of it, but then again, in contrast 'Words You Say' is a
mellow song to
chill out to. You can put it to any situation. They soon were rockin' it up with
'Breakthrough', which is how I like my rock - aggressive! 'Breakthrough' must be
the song that really got my attention. Following on was 'Dream as One', 'Wicked
Glass' (total one to turn up to 11, maybe 12 if you want to be bad), 'Truth',
'The End' (which had a Metallica flare to it, you'll get me when you listen to
it) and then finishing the set and
the album with a nice acoustic number –
'The Lost Soul'. Their set blew me away and I bought their album. WORTH LOOKING
INTO PEOPLE!
The lads had a short break, then soon got back up
on stage to perform some tracks from their 1st album playing some
awesome covers of 'Voodoo Chile' by Jimmy Hendrix, 'Spirit of Radio' by Rush
incorporating 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey, and 'Hell Ain't A Bad Place To
Be' by AC/DC (which I sang along to, its AC/DC you have to!) then showing their
diversity by playing Trivium 'Dying In Your Arms', wrapping up the night with
classic Metallica – 'Seek And Destroy'.
ROCK
INDUSTRY MAGAZINE : REVIEW OF GIG AT GASWORKS BAR, BRADFORD (POSTED
APRIL 2007)
"a hard
rock/metal trio from Manchester, whose focus is clearly the guitar -
pinching more harmonics than Zakk Wylde on an instrumental. The
single-tracked mid-tempo guitar thunders along heavily, and an Anselmo-alike
gruff vocal attack is almost only ornamental placed either side of the
amazing guitar work. That said, there are some nice riffs in evidence
that keep the extravagant solos in check, and some perfect little hard
rock breakdowns to keep the rhythms varied and the songs interesting. A
well executed and interesting start. [7 out of 10]"

FURY :"MY TOMORROW"- 2005 Rocksector Records.
Formed originally year 2002 and after the edition of a CD
single call "Alarms/ Hear no Evil" which helped to obtain them a good
reputation in native city of Manchester, to the north of England,
finally the hour to shape all the material composed from that year to
date in a LP has arrived for this emergent trio known as Fury UK. The band
practices a good mixture of hard rock and classic metal, with a
root and predominant feeling in the old school. In fact, if one did not know
that this is a production in 2005, most probable it is thought that
of the New Wave of
British Heavy Metal. The sound and the type of compositions do not make
but evoke that golden time at which the Heavy really reigned Metal, of
the hand of bands like Iron Maiden (first years of course), Diamond
Head, Angelwitch, Tokyo Blade and a long etc.
The influences of the band exactly go by the above,
adding another touch not less classic, of group of the
stature of the old Metallica, Megadeth or Black Sabbath. The initial
"Power of God" enters to kick you completely with simple and direct
riffs , good rhythm plus a vocalist in Chris Appleton that has
much of the well-known like Paul Dí Anno or James Hetfield,
although something more harsh and without arriving at such high tones. Heavy Metal full of infectious Old School in the rest
of the disc. "Alarms" begins with devastating means. "Burning Star" seems to be
similar to very same the Angelwitch, as a riff
extracted from "Screaming Assault". Each track is
executed in a very convincing way, solid and very melódic, always in
agreement with that classic air that Fury UK evoke very well.
The sound is not for comparing with one of the Finnvox studies, but
no matter. I believe that much of the 80s sound resonates with
more modern production. Other killer songs are "Mist 'n' Darkness",
"Lynx", "Mercenaries" or the infectious "Ultra virus".
Is it worth the trouble to spend some money in this work? Absolutely
YES!!!!!. SCORE 8.5/10.

Furious
they go out to the street to shout with all their force, the best hard rock-metal that the English can offer.
Band
born in 2003 in Manchester, England, Fury UK (Fury UK, recently they
changed its' name by adding the UK, surely there already existed another band
with this name) they have achieved big progress with this cd
independently (now released by Rocksector Records), since now
they are interpreting the best style of the scene rock.
FUK
(comic hey?) aim directly at the rawest hard rock of the old school,
with passages more metal like in "Mercenaries" (sounds a little like Megadeth) and adding a touch
of current
sound.
The
voice of the two singers gets together in a very particular way in "Hear
not evil" in which to give an idea, imagine Bret Michaels
and Jon Bon Jovi singing together, this is as I hear it.
Chris
Appleton is the principal voice & guitarist, and it is him to whom I
compare JBJ,
whereas Marc Dawson is the other vocalist & bassist. The group is
completed by Adam Galloway on drums. It's Chris who executes
the metal riffs. They
declare that their influences are Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth
and Rush, although the sound of the band is not so heavy.
Recommended? Of course!
