Fury
UK was formed originally by Chris Appleton back in 2002 in Manchester,
UK. Since that date they’ve undergone some line-up changes & developed an ever-increasing reputation for
captivating live performances….inspired by Chris' guitar work & a selection of hard rock compositions with the fantastic
ingredients of hooks, time changes, key changes, big solos & meaningful
lyrics. A band with riffs, attitude & a bedrock rhythm section. If
you like your rock & metal in an old school vein but with a modern
twist, you've come to the right place.
Influences are diverse but centre on 70s
hard rock, early 80s british heavy metal, with just enough progressive &
modern elements to make the sound relevant & contemporary. Artists that
have inspired Fury UK, although not necessarily outwardly obvious in the
band's sound, are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Rush, Steve Vai, Black
Sabbath, Joe Satriani.
The band released a debut album in November 2005
which was essentially a demo, with the help of Rocksector Records. Nevertheless “My
Tomorrow” was
well-received by critics & fans alike & showcased particularly
the british heavy metal side of the band. Tracks from "My Tomorrow"
remain firm favourites within the band's live set. Live performances came thick & fast
during 2006 including various headline shows where the band forged its'
reputation.
The official album release "Face Of Adversity"
came in 2007 via Rocksector Records & available
from October of that year via the likes of HMV,
Virgin, Play.com, Amazon.co.uk, as well as download sites such as iTunes.
"Face Of Adversity" is a more diverse release than its' predecessor
demo,
reflecting the diverse influences of the band members who originally
recorded that album. Unfortunately it was that diversity that perhaps
was (at least partially) the undoing of that line-up & a change was
enforced with effect from October 2007 to include new members Adam
Cropper (bass & backing vocals) & Martin McNee (drums).
Upon the line-up
change Fury UK has immediately taken on a more channelled hard rock /
metal sound. Far from dilution, the live performances have taken on a
new energy particularly worthy of the old school metal influences which
had prompted Vault magazine to say of the "My Tomorrow" album....
"....someone get a copy of this to Steve Harris of Iron Maiden so he can
remember how it's supposed to be done...."
So, we come to the
current situation & having manfully handled a major line-up change the
band is unbelievably well-set with renewed optimism. The CD single Salvation
(released 9th Feb 2008) with 3 tracks in total (Salvation,
Manslaughter, Lost In Forever) is the perfect mix of "My Tomorrow" & "Face of Adversity"!
A new album is planned for release early in 2009.
